The Academic Health Science Center at East Tennessee State University will co-sponsor a campus blood drive held by Marsh Regional Blood Center today.
The blood drive will be held on the third floor of the D.P. Culp Center in the Ballroom from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Based in Kingsport and owned by Wellmont Health System, Marsh Regional Blood Center is the largest blood center in the region.
All locally collected blood donations stay in the region to supply 22 health care facilities in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, including hospitals in Washington and Carter counties that are part of Mountain States Health Alliance.
To donate blood, individuals must be at least 17 years old, weigh 120 pounds or more and be in good health.
Persons with a cold, sore throat, fever, flu or fever blisters or who are taking antibiotics may not donate. Donors should also eat a balanced meal before giving blood.
Every donor will receive snacks, an exclusive “Marsh Madness” T-shirt and a basketball stress reliever for giving blood.
