After losing in a buzzer beater back in January, the ETSU basketball team traveled to University of Tennessee Chattanooga to take on the Mocs.

The Bucs dropped a 67-59 loss to Chattanooga.

Jalen Riley scored 31 points to reach his 1,000-point mark in his college career.

ETSU approached the game on a three win streak.

Their record dropped to 16-11, with two games left in the season.

Ronrico White from Knoxville, Tennessee, scored 20 points and had two assists for Chattanooga.

UTC shot 17-43 and 7-20 from behind 3-point range.

At the end of the first half the Bucs found themselves up on the Mocs 30-22. Chattanooga came out firing in the second half and tied the game up at 38 with 13:43 to go, and never looked back, taking the lead less than two minutes later.

“I think we played good in the first half, but just didn’t in the second half,” said Coach Murry Bartow.  “Chattanooga deserves a lot of credit for that second half.”

The Bucs were 12-0 when leading at halftime before the game.

A.J. Merriweather scored to pull the Buccaneers within seven with 1:24 left, but UTC made 8-10 from the free throw line. Merriweather scored 12 points.

Chattanooga’s bench outscored ETSU’s bench 12-0 and led the Bucs 10-6 from points off timeouts.

Chattanooga now has a 20-9 record overall, and a 13-3 record in the Southern Conference.

The Bucs will be back in action Thursday when they travel to Charleston, South Carolina, to take on The Citadel. They will end the regular season on Saturday when they travel to play Mercer before playing in the conference tournament. ETSU is still tied with Western Carolina for fourth place in the conference.
