Rock-funk, jam band, Digg, brought their album release tour to Johnson City’s Acoustic Coffeehouse this past Sunday night.

The Acoustic Coffeehouse has a history of providing performing opportunities for local talent, along with bringing a variety of national musical talent to Johnson City – and Digg contributed to that Sunday night.

Digg performed hits such as “Sailing By,” which is the second single off their debut album, “These are Days.”

In an interview with UK’s “Songwriting Magazine,” the band said “Sailing By” is “a contemplation on losing someone very dear, inspired by both the sadness of the loss and joy they brought to life. The tone of the song reflects this duality with a ponderous verse and celebratory bridge.”

Their debut album dropped Nov. 20, after premiering the album on music news site, “The Grateful Web” on Nov. 13.

Digg received their start in Denver, Colorado in 2012. The band’s original sound ranged from blues, rock, funk, and jazz, while their style consists of funky rock with elements of a melodic guitar and a harmonious saxophone.

Will Crossland leads in guitar and vocals for the band, with Chris Whiteley on saxophone, Joshua Rutherford on the keyboard, Jesse Darrow on bass and Aaron Sandry on drums.

In the past three years, Digg has played over 100 live shows, and has the opportunity to be a supporting act for “Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds,” “The Main Squeeze,” “George Porter Jr. of The Meters,” “Orgone,” “Soul Rebels” and many more.

Some of the band’s favorites include Richmond’s “The Southern Belles,” Charleston based “Gaslight Street,” and fellow Colorado natives, “Jaden Carlson Band.”

“These Are Days” is available for purchase on iTunes with a total of 11 tracks.
