Currently sitting next to each other in the women’s Southern Conference standings, the ETSU women’s basketball team will take on the Furman Paladins this Saturday.

These two teams met earlier this season when the Bucs were defeated 81-77.

Since then, the Bucs have won four games out of six and will face Wofford this Thursday before the home game against Furman on Saturday.

Furman has won three out of its previous six and will face Chattanooga this Thursday. The Bucs came out with fire in both halves of the game in the last meeting.

In the previous game against Furman, the team shot well from the field, making 46.7 percent from the field, and they shot 77.3 percent from the free-throw line.

The Bucs also gave a great performance on the boards in the previous game, out-rebounding the Paladins 36 to 29.

In Furman’s last six games, they have only outrebounded the opposing team in one game, while ETSU has outrebounded the opposing team in three of its last six games.

As the end of the fourth quarter approached in the Bucs’ last game against Furman, the game was tied with three minutes remaining. E

TSU freshman Raven Dean (Charlotte, N.C.) hit a three-pointer to give the Bucs a one-point lead.

The remainder of the game was neck-and-neck, but a couple of three-pointers from Furman’s junior guard Whitney Bunn pushed the Paladins’ lead to the end of the game.

Bunn ended the game with her team’s high of 25 points.

Since this game, the Bucs have only let one player score over 20 points against them in a game, while Furman has allowed five players to score over 20 points against them in the past six games.

Based off their shooting, rebounding and tough defense, the Bucs have a good chance of coming out victorious.
