The ETSU student Bachelor of Fine Arts exhibit will be held this month in Slocumb Galleries.

The exhibits will be held at different times for different pieces here in the month of March where there will be an opportunity for everyone to drop by to view the different art that is being shown off.

This is the first week of a weekly event that will be put on by ETSU and Slocumb Galleries featuring different artists with various specialties. There were several pieces by students that have made it apparent that being a professional artist is their main goal.

Kayli Browder is a senior in the Bachelor of Fine Arts Graphic Design Program, and her piece, “One in Five,” is a touching mixed media design about the society that we live in today placing blame and hardships on rape victims (a tendency known as “victim blaming”).

You can view this piece March 21-25 during the hours of operation at Slocumb Galleries, which are 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with extended hours on Thursdays until 6 p.m.

Another Bachelor of Fine Arts senior is Rebecca Tyler. Rebecca’s work is titled, “Paramnesia.” The exhibit consists of a series of paintings that portray young childhood innocence, female archetypes and the reality of abuse. Visitors can also view her work from March 21-25.

There will be a reception Friday, March 25 from 5-7 p.m., which will acknowledge both seniors for their work and accomplishments. The idea is to help artists get their work out in the open to make the transition from college life to work life easier. This event is open to the general public, and there is handicap accessibility for those in need.
