If you enjoy free entertainment on campus, chances are it is provided by Buctainment, the student programming board for the ETSU community.

Buctainment is responsible for the annual Winter Cruise Festival in the D.P. Culp University Center as well as movies, magicians, concerts, lectures and debates held on campus.

“Buctainment provides a variety of free events for students on campus to enjoy,” said Vice President Sean Blayney. “We have everything from free movies and magicians to paintball and music festivals.”

They also work with other organizations throughout campus to bring events to ETSU.

Students on a tight budget don’t have to worry about paying for Buctainment events because one of the goals of the organization is to provide fun activities for students to enjoy for free throughout the semester.

Buctainment tries to plan events for the university that bring all different types of students and other people in the community together.

“We would like our events to increase student involvement around campus and to bring people together through entertainment,” Blayney said.

Student activity boards like Buctainment are common on many college campuses, as providing free entertainment for students is a good way to help undergraduates as well as graduates de-stress throughout the school year.

The board helps with every step of the gatherings they plan. They discuss what they think a majority of students will like, advertise, and set up events when the time comes.

“My job as Vice President is to advertise for our events;  I post flyers around the Culp Center as well as update our dry erase boards,” Blayney said. “We also have some different display boards on the Cave ramp and the second floor where I post general information and bigger events.”

To keep up with Buctainment, students can check out their Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages where they post about upcoming events throughout the semester.

The third annual Bucstock music festival is coming up on April 30 from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. in parking lot 22-A by the soccer field.  There will be live bands all day, food trucks and vendors.

Any students interested in getting involved with Buctainment can attend one of their meetings held every Thursday at 5 p.m. in the SORC Suite B Lounge in the D.P. Culp University Center. Getting involved is a good way to explore career options in the entertainment industry or just have fun and make new friends on campus. Students can become committee members or student staff programmers.

“We are just a bunch of people that like to have fun and share it with others,” Blayney said.
