Officers with the Johnson City Police Department arrested an ETSU professor and his wife Aug. 31 for simple domestic assault after a dispute escalated into a physical confrontation, according to a police report obtained from the Johnson City Police Department.

Terence Hicks, who was named ETSU’s Dean of the Clemmer College of Education on July 1, 2015, was removed from his position as dean following the incident.

Hicks will continue to serve as a professor in the department of educational leadership and policy analysis. The college’s two associate deans, Kimberly Hale and Pamela Mims, will work with Vice President of Academic Affaris Bert Bach in the leadership of the college until the university names an interim dean.

“We are aware of the situation but cannot provide any further comment at this time due to this being a personnel matter,” the university said in a prepared statement on Tuesday.
