On Oct. 3, the ETSU Department of Public Safety issued a Safety Notice notifying campus that a forced fondling occurred outside Sherrod Library on Oct. 1.

According to the notice, a female student was walking outside of the library when an unknown male inappropriately touched the female student on the “buttock area.”

ETSU spokesman Joe Smith said the investigation is ongoing.

This is the fourth sexual assault incident reported to public safety this academic year. The university sent an email on Sept. 19 notifying students that a sexual assault reported to have occurred on Sept. 14 in an academic building was unfounded.
