In 2007, ETSU’s Student Government Association brought the All-American Rejects to Johnson City for its annual fall concert. On Oct. 21, nearly ten years to the day, the band returns to play at Freedom Hall Civic Center.

Active since 1999, the All-American Rejects have sold over 10 million albums worldwide and topped the charts multiple times over the years. Billboard ranked them among the “Hot 100 Artists of the 2000s” and “Billboard 200 Artists of the Decade.” You may know them from hit singles like “Move Along,” “It Ends Tonight,” “Dirty Little Secret” or “Gives You Hell.”

While they will surely play all the favorites you know and love, expect to hear some newer material from the alternative rock/power pop band at this show as well. There’s no official statement from the band about an album this year as of yet, but they have released three new songs since April.

“Sweat,” charted at at 30 on the Billboard Adult Pop Songs chart, and now they’re on tour. This fall tour has taken them across the country, from Chicago to Las Vegas and now here to Johnson City.

Devon Gilfillian, a gospel-blues and southern soul artist, will open for the band. Gilfillian, a Nashville-based musician, released a self-titled solo album last year.

The SGA puts on a concert every semester. Past artists include Moon Taxi, Echosmith, Lupe Fiasco, Switchfoot and T-Pain. The differences in genre are always taken into consideration and of course what students vote for.

Tickets are available now for ETSU students, student guests and faculty. With a valid student I.D., pick up one complimentary ticket and up to three $15 guest tickets. ETSU employees may purchase as many as three tickets for $15. Pick up yours from the D.P. Culp University Center second floor information desk.

Starting Oct. 9, public tickets will be available online through ETSU’s website. They will be $25 each in advance or $30 the day of the show at the Freedom Hall box office. The show begins at 7:30 p.m.
