Anjela Kricak is a freshman athlete at ETSU who plays for the women’s soccer team. The Krusevac, Serbia, native is a midfielder and is studying sports science.

Kricak got into playing soccer when she was around 8 or 9-years-old and has been playing for 11 years.

She got into soccer because of her brother. “In Serbia, they opened a new soccer club, so my brother wanted to start to play and I went with him,” said Kricak. “I was just watching when the coach said ‘hey come on and play with us, don’t watch – it’s boring,’ so I played with them and he told me I was good.”

Growing up playing at her soccer club in Serbia, Kricak mostly played with boys. “Playing with the boys is cool; they are stronger and it was better for me because it made me a stronger player on the field,” said Kricak.

Kircak’s favorite part of playing soccer is learning all the skills. She does not have a least favorite part in soccer; she just wants to enjoy the game.

Kricak came to ETSU because of head coach Adam Sayer and her friend, and teammate, sophomore Marina Bradic (Medvedja, Serbia). “My friend Marina told Adam about me, so I came here.”

“I have played all positions before, but midfielder is my position here and the one I am the best at,” said Kricak.

“In Serbia, we don’t have sports that you play for college like it is here, you only play in the clubs,” Kricak said.

So far at ETSU, Kricak has played a total of 483 minutes on the field, which has resulted in scoring two goals and having three assists.

You can catch Kricak and the rest of her teammates at home in the Summers-Taylor Stadium on Friday, Oct. 4, when they take on the Samford University Bulldogs.
