Dear Editor:
Over the past few months, the SGA has argued over how to proceed on the matter of student discount cards.
By law the Student Government Association is required to create and distribute student discount cards to the student body, under Title I Sections 101 through 103 of the SGA Code of Laws.
The students get very little out of their SGA. When there is something that the SGA is supposed to do for the students, they spend all of their time arguing about what to do and whose responsibility it is.
I am ticked off at this lack of action. Now is the time for reform.
I currently serve in the student senate and am witness to this during every meeting. Sen. Daniel Burgner brought forth legislation to fix some of the problems caused by the SGA’s apparent lack of concern for the students.
It is time that the students know the truth. There are still some representatives that care about the students, people like Tiffany Porter, Priya Ponnapula, Howard Nix, Sarah Cox, Josh Hite and others.
I urge each and every student who reads this letter to voice their opinion. Students have a right to expect that the leadership in SGA will do what it says it will. Let’s tell the SGA to do its job.
Sen. David Michael Lane
