Dear Editor:
I am writing in response to a letter I read in the Feb. 5 edition of the East Tennessean (National Park Entrance Fees Not Used Properly).
The letter, written by Zackary A. Cope, was about an article written by Joshua Blades concerning admission prices to parks.
As Zackary pointed out, we can now rest assured that no one will have to worry about the admission prices to national parks because by the time George W. Bush is done, there won’t be any left.
We won’t have to pay more for gas now. But does anyone care about, oh, say – I don’t know – 20 years from now when our children can’t breathe because “the president” found a short-term answer to a long-term problem.
“To free up Alaskan oil,” as Zackary put it, is the best way to ensure that we, as Americans, will postpone, again, the problem of seriously finding and implementing a more efficient energy source – all because we now want lower gas prices.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, next time you insult Bill about doing his job remember that he’s the one who balanced the budget and lowered unemployment all while being impeached for having an affair. So yeah, I guess he was distracted.
In one short letter, Zackary managed to slight one of our greatest presidents, insult one of the most entertaining writers in the East Tennessean, and promote the man who is most likely going to be the worst president ever.
Therefore, in conclusion, I wish to concede to Zackary that although he may have stayed awake in freshman history – he obviously doesn’t pay attention to the present nor have any concern for the future.
