Dear Editor:
Are you tired of the rhetoric from the religious right? Are you sick of hearing that universal “truth” belongs only to the fundamentalists? Are you confused when you hear people say we need religious documents in our schools, even if it does violate the Constitution?
Do you wonder if atheists and other freethinkers exist right here in East Tennessee? The answer to these questions, and many more, can be answered if you attend the meeting of East Tennessee Atheists being from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 4 at the Johnson City Public Library.
Yours truly will be a featured speaker, along with Dr. Massimo Pigliucci, professor at UT-Knoxville, who will speak on the topic of “Science and Religion: Friends, Foes, or Apples and Oranges?”
I will speak about being an open atheist here on the campus of ETSU and upper East Tennessee.
This meeting is not for the faint of heart or those who fear that hearing the truth (with a small “t”) might ruin their faith in the supernatural.
If you are curious about an organization that stands for the intellectual freedom of the individual, then please attend and enjoy our gathering.
