“Beauty and the Beast: Art, Function and Early Stone Tools,” will be at the sculpture and art annex Thursday.
The purpose of the event is to educate students about early art work and to demonstrate the art of flintknapping, or making arrowheads.
Errett Callahan who has a doctorate in anthropology and is one of the world’s experts in flintknapping, will give a slide-show lecture and workshop entitled “Stone Knives as Art.”
The lecture begins at 10 a.m. and the hands-on demonstration and workshop will be from 1 to 4 p.m.
This event is a collaboration between sculpture, psychology and anthropology at ETSU.
The event is free and open to everyone.
