ETSU’s Office of Professional Development is offering the program “Building the Creative Team” to faculty and staff members, regional companies and organizations.
A facilitator will lead participants through a series of exercises for individuals and groups. The exercises are designed to be fun and informative.
The goals of the program are to improve employees morale and productivity, create a work atmosphere that honors trust and integrity, help workers find solutions to workplace challenges, enhance collaboration and problem-solving skills and reinforce and upgrade team leadership.
“It will infuse a feeling of camaraderie,” said Darla Dye. program coordinator in the Office of Professional Development in the School of Continuing Studies.
Dye said program sites and exercises are kept a secret to participants. At the end of the four-hour session, individuals will have an increased sense of the role they take in the group, and managers and supervisors will be presented with an analysis of their own and the group’s performance.
Dye stressed that the sessions will offer participants a positive nd encouraging experience.
“The emphasis is on strengths, strengths of the group,” she said.
Dye said trust, collaboration and problem solving have seemed more crucial since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, and positive relationships with friends and co-workers have seemed more valuable. She thinks this program will help groups maintain strong and productive ties.
“Let’s look at what’s important,” she said.
A minimum of four participants is required to participate in the program. The cost is $350 for groups of four to eight people. Additional charges apply for larger groups. The cost includes transportation, lunch, exercises and facilitation. The program is ongoing. For registration and more information, call Dye at 439-8025.
