The colleges of Nursing, Public and Allied Health, and Applied Science and Technology are co-sponsoring their 16th annual Health Professions Job Opportunities Day for ETSU students and alumni on Feb. 11.
The fair will include a variety of health-care organizations not only from Tennessee, but also from areas such as North Carolina, Kentucky and Georgia.
Jeanette Hill, information research technician with career placement, said the coordinators for the fair must choose from a long list of organizations that want to participate.
“We always try to hit the local and outside agencies that want to come,” she said. “We try to get the surrounding states to participate so that students can get a job in places like North Carolina or Virginia if they want too.”
Health-care organizations such as the University of Tennessee Medical Center from Knoxville, Pikeville Methodist Hospital from Pikeville, Ky., and Wellstar Health System from Marietta, Ga., will be available to talk to students and alumni one on one and discuss full-time employment opportunities.
“The students can talk to any and all of the organizations, and we always advise them to bring plenty of resumes with them when they come,” Hill said.
Hill said that she is hoping for a big turnout this year so that the larger organizations that attend will want to return.
“We had to raise the fee this year from $20 to $40, and it just takes a lot of preparation for something like this,” she said.
So far there will be 26 health-care organizations in attendance, but Hill said there is a possibility that more will be added within the next week.
The fair will be open to students and anyone else interested from 1:30-4:30 p.m. and will be held in the ballroom on the third floor of the Culp Universty Center.
