In the most closely watched of the matches, Jessica Irey and Tatiana Arriaran of ETSU (1-1) defeated Stefanie Shuba and Sarah Cox of UNC Asheville. The match was fiercely fought with the ETSU doubles team finally prevailing at 9-8.
The two UNC Asheville (0-1) wins came in the No. 5 singles match as Emily Aker-Estes defeated Heather Jones of Elizabethton with her large contigent of fans, and Stacey Witkowski defeated Charmaine Luvis, 6-3 and 6-4, in the No. 6 singles match.
In the No. 2 doubles match, ETSU’s Gemma Halim and Aimee Villavicencio defeated the Bulldogs’ Nancy Livesay and Ashley Jones, 8-1.
UNC Asheville took the No. 3 doubles match with Akers- Estes and Witkow-ski defeating Jones and Char-maine Luvis of ETSU.
The Lady Bucs received singles victories from Halim in the No. 1 singles match. Halim defeated Shuba (6-1, 6-3) for her first victory at ETSU.
Irey won her No. 2 match over Cox, 6-3 and 6-4 with Arriaran defeating Livesay in the No. 3 match, 6-3 and 6-1. In the No. 4 match, Villavicencio defeated Jones, 6-1 and 6-0.
