A free speech and hearing clinic is offered on campus on the second floor of Lamb Hall.
The communicative disorders department offers free hearing and speech tests for students that are enrolled at ETSU.
The public is welcome to come to the clinic and be tested, but they will have to pay according to their household income.
“It is a myth if you talk louder or softer, then you have hearing loss,” said Dr. Fagelson of the audiology department.
This is Fagelson’s sixth year in the department. He is a professor of audiology and also helps with testing for hearing loss in the clinic.
Graduate students do most of the testing and therapy in the clinic, but are supervised by a faculty member.
The audiology clinic is open only on Wednesday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. However, the speech portion of the clinic is open everyday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Call 439-4355 for more information.
