Volunteers are needed for an Author Showcase event that will take place in the Culp Center on April 12 and 13.
Positions range from greeter to set up/take down. Volunteers may take part in the marketing workshop at the Adelphia Center on Friday afternoon from 2-5 p.m. as space is available (registration required) and afterwards are invited to the reception at the Carnegie Hotel. Each volunteer will also receive a free T-shirt with the Celebration logo, which they must wear on the day of the sale. There will be orientation sessions for volunteers, and the time and place will be announced later.
Greeters will greet patrons at entrances of the Culp Center and give individuals directions to the ballroom, welcome patrons to ballroom, distribute programs and tickets for door prizes and provide directions for various areas. Greeters will also remind patrons not to bring in outside books for signing.
Information’s desk attendant will answer patrons’ questions and give them directions as needed.
Author assistants will work with 2-4 authors at adjacent tables to keep them supplied with books and other supplies.
Book check attendant will keep track of books for patrons leaving the ballroom temporarily for restroom breaks or attend Author Showcase event.
Promotional sales volunteers will help the members of ETSU Library Associates are asked to sell promotional T-shirts and tote bags.
Book sale assistants will assisist Barnes & Noble cash register operators by bagging products.
Author showcase facilitator will introduce presenter (information provided) and assist late-comers in finding seats and help keep time to 30 minutes.
Transportation will pick up authors at airport and drive them to their hotels. Then they will pick them up at the hotel and drive them to the Adelphia Center, Carnegie Hotel or Culp Center. After the event, the transportation will take the authors back to the airport. Two ETSU vans will be provided for the ETSU faculty/staff drivers. Non-ETSU employees will need to use their own vehicles.
Set up/take down will occur on Friday afternoon and evening. These individuals will place signs throughout campus, assist in the ballroom and transporting books from bookstore to ballroom and distributing them to correct tables. On Saturday afternoon the same crew will clean the ballroom from the events of the following day.
