ENGL 4956, “Women in Film Noir” will be offered July 9 to August 12, session 2, Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 9:45 p.m. Hurd will show nine noir films starting with early 40s and 50s then progressing to modern noir films of the 80s and 90s. The class will be mostly group discussion about the influences, techniques, stylistic devices, American culture and writers of these films.

Women in Film Noir is taught as a summer course because it gives students the time and opportunity to discuss topics and situations about women in depth.
