Spend 26 days on the road and in the field from ETSU to Montana and Wyoming and back to ETSU. The course is not just a once in a lifetime trip.
Students will learn how to help and how to change the world and gain a new respect for nature, themselves and others while encountering travel and environmental writing.
The structure of the writing assignments will be broad; students will have freedoms within each assignment and creativity will be encouraged.
The course ENGL 3956 “Writing ‘On the Road'” is a supplemental course and will only be offered to students registered for SALM 4127/5127 “Rocky Mountain Experience.”
The cost of both classes is tuition plus $825 and includes all food, campground expenses and recreation (white water rafting, historic sites, outdoor drama, museums, etc.) Both classes total six hours credit and fulfill financial aid requirements.
Through “24 hour/day learning” as one student noted, students will benefit from continuous new experiences, through living and working with new people.
The following are examples of a few of the highlights students will experience: Badlands National Park, Mount Rushmore, Devil’s Tower National Monument, Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park.
