Ted Olson, interim director of ETSU’s Center for Appalachian Studies and Services and director of ETSU’s Appalachian, Scottish and Irish Studies Program, is the editor of the Appalachian Book of the Year.
Olson was responsible for editing a collection of James Still’s poetry: From the Mountain, From the Valley: New and Collected Poems. Olson is the author of several other works including, Blue Ridge Folklife.
Dr. Colin Baxter has been named chair of the ETSU department of history.
Baxter teaches a variety of courses in British and United States history, as well as such topics as “War in the Modern World” and “Exploring Local History.”
He is also the author of Field Marshal Benard Law Montgomery, 1887-1976: Selected Bibliography; The War in North Africa, 1940-1943: A Selected Bibliography; and The Normandy Campaign, 1944: A Selected Bibliography.
In addition, Baxter is the co-editor and co-author of The American Military Tradition from Colonial Times to the Present.
He has also written some essays and encyclopedia entries.
