In some good news for the ETSU baseball team, another pitcher will be making the line-up this season with Willie McKenzie’s transfer from Louisville.
The 6-8, 235-lb. McKenzie is a native of Kingsport and a graduate from Sullivan South High School.
He is a former teammate of ETSU hurler Reid Casey and the right-hander will add more depth to the Buc lineup.
McKenzie served as a relief pitcher for the Cardinals in Louisville. In 12 games last season, he posted a 5.19 ERA in 17 1/3 innings, striking out 15 hitters.
“Willie is a great addition to our staff,” said head coach Tony Skole. “He comes to us from a very successful Louisville program which went to the NCAA tournament last year. He had a couple of solid outings for us this fall.”
Skole said that McKenzie has had great velocity, delivering 90-94 mph pitches.
