East Tennessee State head baseball coach Tony Skole announced Friday the signing of Nick Hill from Bluff City to a national letter of intent to play beginning in the 2004 season.
Hill pitched 51 innings for Sullivan East High School last season as a junior, notching 80 strikeouts and accumulating a 2.59 ERA. This past summer, Hill played with the top players in East Tennessee on the elite Knoxville Thunder team, leading the club to a second-place finish in the 2002 AAU World Series.
Hill was named all-conference following his junior year and was an honorable mention to the team after his sophomore season.
“Nick is a super student-athlete that we have been following at Sullivan East High School for the last couple of years,” Skole said. “We consider Nick to be the top left-hander pitcher in East Tennessee and one of the best in the entire state. Nick is a high quality young man and we are very pleased that very soon he will be enrolling at East Tennessee State.
