Two new exhibits of painting and graphic design are being exhibited in Slocumb Galleries through today.
Illustrator Jessica Heschong, a candidate for a bachelor’s of fine arts in graphic design, features her work from the book, Eliza Peabody’s Trip to the Farm, written by Jamie Corwin.
She was inspired by her 2-year-old daughter. Heschong had always wanted to try illustrating a children’s book.
“A personal goal,” Heschong said, “was completed with each piece, all of which allowed me to be where I am now.”
“I believe art is a gift you are born with. How you choose to create art is different for each individual,” Heschong said.
Sara Goforth, candidate for a bachelor’s of fine arts in painting, combines her love of painting and anthropology in her show called “Migration.”
“Migration” centers around the idea of ancient human migration dilemmas and culture.
Her paintings are monotone, often using rust as an element, and contain land mass forms such as continents and countries. They are considered “cavelike” primitive works.
Goforth will have a reception from 7-9 p.m. tonight.
Slocumb Galleries are open weekdays from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and are located on the first floor of Ball Hall.
