Dear Editor,
Some weeks ago I heard an uniformed listener call a Johnson City radio station and plead his case for ETSU to abandon the football program.
I reached for a current program to check the roster for returning players in the past years.
Last year’s team were 4-8 due to lack of an experienced offense.
However, all of the players I have talked to believe that we will be several times better in terms of putting points on the board this year.
It is true that no one knows who the next quarterback will be.
The quarterback we are looking for might already be here or is a standout from a junior college, but either one will do the job.
We have a great and dedicated coaching staff, a band to die for and the hardest working cheerleaders I have ever seen.
As a die-hard football fan I can hardly wait for next season to begin. The 4-8 record could very easily turn into 8-4.
To my uniformed friend who called the radio station, make sure you stay away from the forest, the squirrels are putting away the nuts for the winter.
