All right, I know that Carmello Anthony is a basketball god, but does that allow him to throw a temper tantrum in the middle of a NBA basketball game?
This 19- year-old boy has a lot of growing up to do if he thinks that’s how the game is played. Being drafted into the NBA is a huge deal, there are press releases, advertising deals and not to mention one hell of a salary. So why does this kid think that he can waltz into a man’s house, play with the big boys and then throw a fit when he doesn’t get his way.
Now I’m not saying that the guy doesn’t have skills there are stats to show that he is an awesome player that deserves to be playing in the NBA, but what I don’t understand is why Anthony thinks that because he doesn’t like how the game is going or the way that his teammates are playing, then it’s just optional to return to the game.
Here’s something he should have been taught, finish what you’ve started. There is no “I” in team Carmello, the team needs its best player out on the court, especially when they are losing to the Detroit Pistons. The requirement to play in the NBA is that you have to finish high school. And everyone knows that Carmello played at Syracuse to lead his team. So after going into the draft, when did he decide that he didn’t want to play by the rules? The game can get frustrating and maybe patience is just something that players have to learn with time, but come on.
This boy makes more money than I probably will in my entire lifetime and he’s younger than me! I will probably never even see the amounts that he is raking in just in his first year. Heck, give me a ball, let me see what I can do, I could hire someone to teach me the skills that this boy has with all of the money he is making. And let’s not forget that even though most men think that sports are life, it is just a game. He is getting paid millions to play a game.
What then is the reason that Carmello decided to protest getting taken out of the game with six minutes to go? Is he just too young to be in the league? Carmello has shown that he is a lot more mature than most 19 year-olds that I’ve met on this campus, but he definitely still has a lot more growing up to do!
Carmello needs to suck it up and play the game.
