Another semester, Homecoming has come
We needed a concert to fill up the time
SGA made a list of bands to choose from
A big-name rapper was the first in line
To agree to come and grace the stage
The fire marshal added fuel to the fire
The Ludacris fans were all in a rage
The city commissioner increased their ire
Kid Rock posed no danger, but Ludacris would
To Mr. Jones on the street
A concert for gown endangers the town?
A ludicrous notion, no reason, no rhyme
His fans decided to rock the boat
Demanded the man for whom they didn’t even vote
They screamed
“The voice of the masses just hasn’t been heard!
This is absolute tyranny! It is downright absurd!”
Other students were disgusted by this rapper’s songs
Profanity, pornography, misogyny, abuse
This man and his songs just didn’t belong
At this house of learning. They turned their wrath loose
On SGA for raising their fee
Then spending their dollars so unwisely
Now, I’m no fan of porno and violence
I do not plan to attend this event
But these people did have their chance
To vote how their dollars would be spent
“Who checks e-mail at that time of the year?”
In the real world, time of the year doesn’t matter
You must check e-mail every day, my dear
Shall we bring you the news on a silver platter?
They cried
“The voice of the masses just hasn’t been heard!
This is absolute tyranny! It’s downright absurd!”
We’re here in the home of the brave, where we’re free
Of staying informed and responsibility
Our representatives vote so that we can complain
Both sides think they got the short end of the stick
We love to be victims. We love to cry, “Oh, poor
Me, it’s enough to make me rather sick.
Is this two thousand five or 1984?
Land of the free and home of the brave
Where a few people’s morals suffice for the rest
Where we remain children from cradle to grave
Too stupid to think for ourselves what is best
“The voice of the masses just hasn’t been heard!
This is absolute tyranny! It’s downright absurd!”
