The East Tennessee State volleyball team concluded regular season Atlantic Sun play on Saturday, falling 3-1 to A-Sun leader Florida Atlantic, at Grandview Prep.
A quartet of Lady Bucs reached double figures in the kill column in the loss, paced by junior Jennifer Sartor (Toronto, Ontario) and sophomore Callie Kiselich (Colorado Springs, Colo.) with 13 each.
FAU captured the first two frames, 30-28, 30-25, before the Lady Bucs answered with a 30-21 victory in game three.
But the Owls rebounded with a 30-23 win in game four to claim the match. ETSU falls to 17-12 overall, 3-6 in conference, while the powerful Owls move to 26-2, and complete a perfect 9-0 A-Sun stand.
ETSU’s game four victory is only third game that FAU has dropped in a conference match all season.
“I was pleased with how we played overall,” said ETSU head coach Lindsey Devine. “We were able to do some things today that we hadn’t been doing well recently, and I think we are starting to get back on track just in time for the conference tournament.”
With the score knotted at 16 in game three, Sartor put the Bucs ahead with a kill on an assist from Jennifer Emerson (Santa Clara, Calif.). The Owls wouldn’t lead again in the frame.

The Lady Bucs scored the final four points of the game, with back-to-back kills by Crystal Palmer (Chico, Calif.), another kill by Sartor, and a game-ending service ace by Emerson.
Palmer added 12 kills of her own on the match, accompanied with another 11 by Sarah Buhr (Stockton, Calif.).
The Lady Bucs swung .233 for the match, just behind FAU with .246. Sartor led the Bucs individually, hitting .360, while Brittany Kessel (Libertyville, Ill.) swung .312 with seven kills.
Kessel also controlled most of the Buccaneer setting duties, dishing out 34 assists. Emerson also had a hand in the offense, tallying 20 assists.
Sartor was also ETSU’s top defender with 11 digs, giving the junior a double-double on the day. Emerson was right behind with 10 digs.
The Lady Bucs totaled 5.0 blocks for the afternoon, with Sartor posting three block assists.
FAU’s Kelly Paiva dominated the match, posting 24 kills and 11 digs.
Teammate Katie Arvidson added 12 kills, swinging an outstanding .526 on the day. Casey LaRocca tallied a match-high 46 assists, as Makra Condill added 15 digs.
The Lady Bucs will go on the road again on Tuesday, as they take on Western Carolina in the final regular season match of the year. ETSU then has a break before heading into the A-Sun Tournament, which begins Nov. 18.
