Dear Editor,
Although I concluded his article to be highly offensive and insulting, it’s not just Christianity that disagrees with Darren Seiber. There are other variables that are pertinent. To dispel obvious moral issues of homosexuality and gay marriages, one would certainly have to dismiss Christianity altogether, which Seiber conveniently did. Apparently, Seiber doesn’t subscribe to any Christian beliefs, which is evident in his article.
Aside from Christianity, it’s a medical fact that homosexual acts taking place between gay males are not healthy for the human body. Irrefutable evidence proves that there are lethal consequences to engaging in male homosexuality. Active homosexuals are vulnerable to dozens of sexually transmitted diseases. According to one report, the risk of anal cancer rises by an astonishing 4,000 percent for those engaging in homosexual intercourse and doubles again for those who are HIV-positive.
AIDS remains the fifth leading cause of death among those aged 26 to 44, and 60 percent of new cases are contracted by men who have sex with men. The occurrence of unsafe sexual practices resulting in various diseases is rising. An estimated 30 percent of all 20-year-old homosexual men will be HIV-positive or dead by age 30.
While there are some who would promote the myth that homosexual relationships are not much different than those of a heterosexual nature, there are some from the gay community who admit this to be fallacious. Research has shown that men and women engaging in homosexual affiliations are at a significantly higher risk for some forms of emotional problems, including suicidal tendencies, major depression, anxiety disorders and conduct disorders.
And finally, when considering natural selection, it’s still not a normal relationship. Regardless of one’s viewpoint concerning sexual preferences, man and woman’s sexuality is unavoidably associated with reproduction. It’s an undeniable fact that two men or two women cannot reproduce. Biologically, it’s simply not natural or normal. Therefore, homosexuality is a condition that is contrary to nature.
So whatever one’s opinion may be (which every person is certainly entitled to having), this country is a democracy and the majority still rules. Let the voters have their say.
