Football nostalgiaDear Editor,
The college experience can be different things to different people, I understand that. However after reading several anti-football letters to the editor I am driven to write about my college experience and how football enhanced it at ETSU.
Football to me means 7,000 or more of my fellow alumni and current ETSU students gathering together on a fall Saturday wearing blue and gold, tailgating with family and friends to show our ETSU pride and cheering on 100 young men that have sacrificed their time, their sweat and their bodies to make us proud.
It is blue and gold shakers, children in blue and gold jerseys or cheerleading outfits. Alumni coming back to the university that they love, bringing their children to show them where they spent four of the best years of their lives.
I meet old friends and make new ones in between touchdowns and tackles. Standing and clapping with the ETSU fight song and singing the alma mater after the game. Going to your favorite watering hole after the game to continue the day celebrating the win or talking of the hope of next week.
All of this for less than 50 cents a day. What a bargain! If that is not for you why not just get a degree on line.
