“New Works: Student Photography Association (SPA) Group Exhibition” will be on display at Slocumb Galleries at Tipton Street, also known as Tipton Place Gallery, from Oct. 1-26.
This collaborative exhibition is organized by the SPA for its members to convey the diversity and aptitude of the photography program in East Tennessee State University’s Department of Art and Design.
Participating SPA members – who work under the mentorship of internationally renowned photographer Mike Smith, ETSU professor of art and design – include Kelly Bond, Matthew Brown, Travis Brown, Natasha Conner, Hailey Eakins, Erin Florence, Jennifer Holt, SPA President Megan Ledbetter, Patrick McLuerney, Thomas Dean Perry II, Joe Reynolds, Kevin Thrasher and Josh Yates.
Also taking part in the exhibition are M.F.A. candidates Shawne Brown, Beth Gorham, John E. May and Tammy Mercure.
An artists’ reception will be held Friday, from 5-7 p.m. in conjunction with Johnson City’s First Friday celebration.The exhibit is sponsored by the Urban Redevelopment Alliance, which has provided the venue.
The Tipton Place Gallery, located on the corner of Tipton and Spring streets in downtown Johnson City, is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4-6 p.m. and Saturday from 1-5 p.m.
