Dear Editor,
Americans are grateful for FEMA Trailers. Why shouldn’t they be? They would be homeless otherwise, and where else are they to go? Get FEMA trailers to homeless families as fast as possible. They have no money, no job and need help.
Yet, we have the Republicans who like to complain about helping these Americans and don’t say a word about helping Exxon who raked in a record profit of $40.1 billion. Republicans gave another $10 billion of tax dollars in subsidies.
In conclusion, I say get these homeless families to sign a waiver and get them off the streets of the richest country in the world. All these empty trailers are no good to anyone, and FEMA needs to get them occupied for homeless families who need them. Folks there are more than 500 homeless families in East Tennessee who would love to have one. As you read this, they are being turned away at local shelters, in the dead of winter, in the richest country in the world. Gotta love those Republicans who blame them for their condition.
In America only 24 percent are college graduates, and 76 percent have either a high school level or less education. My goodness, no wonder we see the mess.
If America can squander hundreds of billions of dollars in Iraq and Afghanistan, that’s OK with the Republicans, but God in heaven doesn’t give trailers out to families.
Well, this registered voter says call on the folks in Washington, to get these trailers to families who need them! America can do better folks, I see it here at ETSU and I’m proud to be a part of an institution who builds futures/homes for the homeless. The key to change is to speak up and out against injustice. You must speak up whenever you see injustice.
