Lin Lin Wei, a student in the ETSU digital media program, has been named the recipient of a $300 scholarship by the American Advertising Federation of Northeast Tennessee.
Wei, originally from China, has lived in the United States for seven years and graduated from high school in Bristol, Va.
He has selected animation as his area of concentration in digital media and plans a career in the game industry.
The award was offered through a contest which selected “a minority student enrolled in a media arts program who best articulates in an essay the importance of diversity awareness in the creation of more effective advertising, entertainment media, and visual communication.”
Wei’s essay, entitled “Effects of Low Minority Enrollment in University Advertising and Media Arts,” was based on his experiences as an Asian student studying digital media.
Wei will be presented his scholarship at the annual American Advertising Federation ADDY Awards Banquet this month.
