Dear Editor,
Students within higher education are stepping up! We are expressing to our universities that we want to develop sustainable initiatives through education, research and policies by voting yes to the Green Fee.
As a society we are concerned about the environmental impact we place on the earth. Campuses can serve as a model by focusing on interdisciplinary thinking with respect to human health, ethics, future generations and planetary stewardship.
The need to modify individual and institutional behavior and practices toward the environment depends upon the vision of each individual institution.
By voting yes to the student initiated Green Fee on April 8 and 9 we will be joining other schools across Tennessee that include MTSU, UTK, TTU, UTC, AP and University of Memphis to provide clean energy initiatives to our campus that enhance the air quality and longevity of Tennessee, not only for ourselves but for future generations.
