The ARTSMARTS Creativity Auction will raise money for ETSU advertising and media arts scholarships. Educators, professionals and students in the advertising community are teaming up with local and regional artists to sponsor the first adsmarts creativity auction. .
The event is open to the public, and is slated for Nov. 6 at The Charles, located at 308 E. Main St., Johnson City.
A viewing of creative works and cocktail hour will begin at 6 p.m., followed by live auction of creative works including fine artists and craftsmen, musicians, chefs and designers at 7 p.m.
A silent auction will be held simultaneously and will feature advertising media, products, services, gift certificates, travel and small crafts.
Attendees will have an opportunity to bid on a variety of creative items, and all proceeds from auction sales will be used to create an endowed scholarship for students in advertising and media arts at East Tennessee State University.
Artists and auction items include: Kara Bledsoe, Nikki Campbell, Cabot Cheese Basket, Charlesey Charlton, Cher Cornett, Theresa Markiw, David Mazure, The Grape Easel @ blowfish emporium, Greg Howser, Richard Luehrman, Shannon Mettler, Melanie’s Candlelight, Wyatt Moody, Rita Osborne, John Simmons, These Undowners, Vera Tracy, Ani Volkan, Bill Wilkey, Donna Wilt and more.
“Scholarships for students in advertising and media arts majors are limited. With tuition costs going up, and technology needs driving up the cost of student’s equipment and supplies, more effort must be made to make it possible for deserving students to get the financial support they need,” said Cher Cornett, auction coordinator and ETSU digital media professor.
“Our immediate goal is to raise $10,000 to start the endowment for the scholarship. Long-term, we want to continue fundraising annually to create larger and/or multiple scholarships. “
Admission is $10 in advance/$15 at the door for non-members, and $5 in advance/$10 at the door for AAF NETN members. Admission includes two beverage tickets. Light refreshments and a cash bar will be provided. “We hope people will find this event to be a fun way to help – by a sponsorship, donation of items, and attendance at what promises to be a fun event,” Cornett said.
AAF Northeast Tennessee is a chapter of the American Advertising Federation.
