Dear Editor, Reading the article entitled “Home will always be where the heart is” from the Nov. 23 edition of the East Tennessean made me come to the realization that Christmas break is coming so very soon.

We all rush to class in our daily rituals, take notes and go “home” to our apartments and dorm rooms to rest or as writer Matt Dial put it, “where I can just go to get away from it all.”

That reminds me of the California Gold Rush in January of 1848.

People came from all over the world to find a better “home” for themselves and their families.

We will all be rushing home for Christmas to get to our better “home” in the same way people rushed to California.

I agree with Dial that while we are at home we do receive the constructive criticism from our family and close friends.

They will make us reflect on the person we have come to be and where we are headed in life.

Dial’s articles made me realize that going back for the holidays is never a bad thing.

Going to where I grew up and came to be the person that I am today is something positive.

So it is time for me to turn off my Lil’ Wayne rap life for a few weeks and slow down for this Christmas season.
