After winning their third straight Atlantic Sun Tournament championship the ETSU Lady Bucs (23-8) learned their fate Monday night. They were given a fourteen seed and will travel to Xavier University to play the number three seed Lady Musketeers (27-3) on their home floor.

The game is set to tip at 2:30 p.m. EST on Sunday afternoon inside the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio and will be televised nationally on ESPN.

Senior guard TaRonda Wiles, the hero of the A-SUN tournament because of her miraculous game-winning shot in the championship game, is happy to know who the Lady Bucs will finally play. “This was one of our main goals at the beginning of the year,” she said.

“Besides winning the regular season and the tournament we wanted to make it back dancing because it is a great experience.”

Head Coach Karen Kemp, who has lead the Lady Bucs to all five of the NCAA tournament appearances, was pleased with the outcome. “A fourteen is a good seed and we are familiar with them because we did see them two years ago,” she said.

The Lady Bucs faced Xavier once in school history on Dec. 16, 2007, losing that contest 76-67 on Xavier’s home floor.

ETSU junior guard Tara Davis isn’t worried about Xavier’s home court advantage.

“I think we take every game the same,” she said. “Regardless of whether it’s at home or not we still have to bring our A-game, cause if not we are going to lose.

“I think our focus is not where we are playing, but who we are playing.”

With last year not going like they wanted, the Lady Bucs were a fourteen seed and lost to three seed Iowa State 85-53, the Lady Bucs are happy to make another appearance in the NCAA tournament.

“It’s exciting because to be able to do it three years in a row is kind of rare,” coach Kemp said. “But this time it’s more about ‘ok, we’ve been there. Now it’s time to take care of some business. Let’ make some noise and shock the world.'”
