The ETSU Honors College, the Office of Research & Sponsored programs and the Dr. Jay Boland Honors Endowment have come together to sponsor the fifth annual ETSU Boland Undergraduate Research Symposium. The Symposium is open to all undergraduate students who are in any stage of research, from project ideas to completion.
The purpose of the symposium is to provide a non-competitive, informal platform for undergraduates to present or discuss their research and exchange ideas among researchers.
This allows students to receive valuable perspective and feedback on their projects.
Student research is broadly considered to be any kind of scholarly work, including but not limited to works of art, performance pieces, technological advances, and the more traditional library and laboratory-based research topics.
Additionally, students who are considering pursuing research at any point of their academic career should take advantage of this excellent opportunity to gain insight into the research process by attending.
Each discipline will have both a morning and afternoon session, with breakfast and lunch provided for presenters.
Presentations will be in the form of displayed artwork or a fifteen minute oral presentation.
The Symposium will be held on Tuesday, April 6 from 9am-5pm at the Millennium Centre, and is free and open to the public.
Students may obtain more information and register at www.etsu.edu/studentresearch/symposium.htm.
Those who register are encouraged to attend an informative Oral Presentation Workshop hosted by Dr. Harold Zimmerman on Tuesday, March 23rd from 5:00-6:30 PM in Yoakley Hall.
Questions concerning the Symposium should be directed to Dr. Frosty Levy, who can be contacted at levyf@etsu.edu or at 423-439-6926.
