Junior Paul Hoilman has a chance of making history this weekend against Mercer at Cardinal Park. Hoilman is three hits away from reaching 200 hits in his career at ETSU. Judging by his conference-leading batting average, .438, he is all but guaranteed to reach that this weekend. The Bucs look in prime shape to solidify their standing in the conference. Coming in to this weekend, ETSU has won two of its last three games in the conference. With these wins, the Bucs advanced to 8-4 on the season in-conference. They are in fourth place and four games back of the conference leader Florida Gulf Coast.

Mercer, on the other hand, still has a lot to prove in conference play. They have lost four straight in the Atlantic Sun. At 5-7, they will have to make up some serious ground to make a charge for the top of the standings. Only the top six teams in the conference will make the tournament. Mercer is currently tied for seventh.

The Bucs will definitely be facing some dangerous hitters in this series. Senior Michael Langley is chasing Hoilman in batting average at .408. Langley is also the conference leader in hits with 64. Standout sophomore Jacob Tanis is right behind Hoilman in slugging percentage. Tanis also leads the Atlantic Sun conference in homers, RBIs and runs scored.

Without question, ETSU is up for a challenge this weekend. Mercer will be coming in looking for something to prove, and, with May rapidly approaching, they will be looking to break into the top six for postseason play.
