In 2005, Matt Leinart, Vince Young and Reggie Bush sat in a room full of family, friends, teammates, coaches and accountants to find out who would be the recipient of the most coveted award in college football, the Heisman Trophy. At the time, Matt Leinart, quarterback for the USC Trojans, was in the midst of another season of checking off middle school schemed secondaries.

Athletic quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, Vince Young, was a do-it-all playmaker who just knew how put sand in defenders’ shoes and run away with games at an alarming rate.

Finally, there was Reggie “smoke that kush” Bush. He was the latest experiment in video games brought to life in the Southern California Coliseum.

In the end, the prestigious prize, the Heisman Trophy, was handed to the newest installment of human highlight reels to bless our television screens week in and week out – Reggie Bush.

Now, in 2010, Bush is paying for his mistakes that involved NCAA violations while he played for the USC Trojans.

The Heisman Trophy will probably be stripped from one of the most versatile running backs to ever step on the grid iron by the end of this month.

Is this a power play to show that the enforcers finally caught an athlete at the top of his sport red-handed five years later?

Bush is not starving for face time.

This guy was part of the athletic and spiritual resurrection of a city once submerged, a member of the Kardashian Smash Brigade, and Weezy drops his name in about every fifth-mix tape track.

He is just another athlete that made some monetary decisions that pushed him in the direction in which he wanted to go.

I’m certain Bush is not too upset about making decisions that have led him to becoming a Super Bowl champ, raking in millions for both his team and for himself.

I am sure he would love to have the Heisman, but now he can just give opposing teams an example of what was taken away from him as the Saints and Bush try to recreate the magic that got Bourbon Street hopping just like the night before Super Bowl XLIV, and the night before that, and the night before that .
