A prescription drug take-back series is scheduled for Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.The objective is simple – encourage citizens to clean out their medicine cabinets, remove expired or unused medications, and properly dispose of them through incineration.

Given the impact of substance abuse on our Appalachian population, this is one of ETSU’s regional initiatives in partnership with law enforcement to reduce accidental poisoning, drug diversion while increasing public awareness.

Disposal sites for Sept. 25 are as follows: 1000 Center Street, Kingsport; Downtown Johnson City, intersection of Water Street and Roan Street; 140 Blountville Blvd. in Blountville.

On October 2, locations for disposal will be set up at 108 W. Main Street in Abingdon, Va. and at 801 Anderson Street in Bristol, Tenn.

All disposal sites will be open from 9 a.m. until noon on those given days.
