A thunderstorm and major power outage did not stop students from standing several hours in line for the fall Student Government Association-sponsored concert.Maroon 5 and One Republic performed Monday night for several thousand ETSU students and their guests at the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center.

“I really loved the show,” said human resources major Amanda Ashby. “I couldn’t wait to see One Republic. I really enjoy their music.”

Since opener Ry Cumings could not attend the concert, because of reasons that were not discussed, the show started out with One Republic, who performed some of their best hits.

After a brief intermission, the Grammy Award-winning band, Maroon 5, finished the show with something nobody expected, letting the entire floor section rush to the stage to experience the concert up close.

“I love Maroon 5,” said Amber Banks. “They are one of my favorite bands and their music rocks.”

The concert went smoothly, but the formation of the lines were not organized properly which caused conflict among concert goers, according to accounting student Krystina Irizarry, who stood in line for four hours.

“The security was not organized at all,” said Irizarry. “They changed their minds a lot about where to stand in line. They weren’t fair about it either. The security guards would let people get in front of people who had been waiting longer.”

Once everyone was in the building, however, the concert proceeded and the show ended with no difficulties.

“The turnout for the evening was pretty good,” said SGA President Chad Hall. “Things went as smoothly as they could go considering the circumstances of the weather.
