Valentine’s Day can be filled with many questions, including what activities one can do on the holiday. Even on a budget however, there are four things that everyone can do to enjoy the day whether you’re single or in a relationship. 1) Just go to a movie – you know you were going to go anyway. “Gnomeo and Juliet” or “No Strings Attached” are fitting for the day. If you want to watch a movie at home, invite some friends over and watch a comedy like “Napoleon Dynamite” for a relaxed mood.

2) Bake some cookies or cupcakes and decorate them. If you don’t bake, go to your local grocery store. You can buy a cake for about $6.

No sweets for you? Make a fruit salad and share it with your friends, and making something together is great.

3) Go to your favorite restaurant or cook a meal at home. Cooking a meal tonight might be the key to having some fun. Go to your friend’s house or invite them over. After all, it is the thought that counts.

4) Go on a hike, walk or bike ride. Getting some endorphins going will relieve some stress, weather permitting.

Try to plan to go for an hour so the exercise fits in your schedule and you are prepared.

5) Have a S.A.D. party for happy singles.

Single Awareness Day can be fun.

For an added bonus, at the party go in together and buy a carnation or two for some people you care about and put them on their door.

White and red carnations signify purity and romance. Pink is for friendship. Surprises just to let people know you care are what’s best about this holiday.

Parties on this day are mostly just to see friends and mingle.

Whatever you decide to do, people are happiest when they’re spending time together. So whatever you decide to do, make the holiday fun and enjoy the day whether you’re single, dating or married.
