ETSU Public Safety received a report on Jan. 30 from a female student who claimed an unknown person pushed her and grabbed her breast and buttocks.

The student said the event took place in Parking Lot 19 between Luntsford Apartments and the Center for Physical Activity.

The student said the person who sexually assaulted her fled after she sprayed the person with pepper spray.

The incident is reported by the student to have occurred sometime between 11:45 p.m. Jan. 28 and 12:15 a.m. Jan. 29.

“We don’t have any information right now about a suspect but we have increased our security presence in that particular area,” said Joe Smith, chief communications officer. “My understanding is that the investigation is continuing.”

Public Safety was notified when the female student’s friend visited Public Safety to tell them about the incident and was encouraged to bring the student to the Public Safety office.
