ETSU softball did not allow the weather to stop them from playing Saturday’s series against Morehead State and University of Maryland, Baltimore County in a doubleheader.

The team split the doubleheader, winning the first game 10-1 in just five innings.

They lost the second game against UMBC, 7-5.

In the first game against Morehead State, ETSU jumped out to a 6-1 lead with a home run by Latosha Rectenwald.

They added on to the lead scoring two runs in the second inning off a single by Fox.

In the third inning they scored the next three runs of the game with a double by Smith scoring the last three runs of the game, helping the Bucs to a 10-1 win two innings later in the fifth.

The second game was against UMBC.

The Buccaneers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning, but UMBC answered back quickly in the third inning, tying the game at two runs off a wild pitch and Cassi Pickett single to left.

In the end UNMBC outscored ETSU 5-3 to give them a 7-5 win, with four hits and one error.

The doubleheader brought ETSU’s record to 6-6.

The Bucs will be playing Radford University and Tennessee Tech University in the Holiday Inn Invitational.

ETSU will start Southern Conference play on March 21.
