ETSU baseball was defeated 6-3 against UNC-Asheville Tuesday night in a game where the Bucs seemed unable to convert from scoring positions.

This is the fifth loss in a row for the Buccaneers.

The Bulldogs got on the board early with a home run from Kyle Towles.

ETSU’s Michael Kelly, with the bases loaded, pitched a walk to give UNC the early 2-0 lead with the Bucs mounting no response in the first inning.

However, in the bottom of the second, ETSU’s Aaron Maher skied a pitch that allowed Kevin Phillips to make it home.

The Bulldogs pulled solo runs in the fourth and fifth innings which brought the score to 4-1. In the eighth inning, ETSU scored its last runs of the game on RBI’s.

UNC- Asheville then finished the game strong with Towles’ second home run of the game, driving in another at 6-3.

ETSU put runners into scoring positions 11 times but were unable to convert any of them on Tuesday.

The Buccaneers look to end their loss streak this weekend, Apr. 10, with three conference games.
