The theme this year for Buctainment’s annual Winter Cruise Festival will be “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” the newest installment in the “Star Wars” series.

Winter-Stellar, as the event has been termed, will take place throughout the entire D.P. Culp University Center on Wednesday, Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All students are encouraged to join in the fun during this free event, which includes a vast amount of activities to choose from.

Options range from cookie decorating and playing video games in the cave to BB-8 racing, lightsaber history lessons, dueling and many more.

Not only will the BB-8 races be something to remember for robotics fans, but everyone will also have the opportunity to learn about the several different types of lightsabers, which are created with a plasma blade and kyber crystal — all powered by The Force of course.

There will also be a costume contest open to everyone starting at 1:30 p.m. in the Culp Ballroom.

First place winner will receive an Sphero BB-8 Droid with phone control, second place will receive the “Star Wars” original trilogy on Blu ray and DVD and third place will receive an R2-D2 measuring cup set.

To register, just visit the Buctainment booth. Other prizes will be given out throughout the festival as well.

According to Buctainment’s official webpage for the event, “The purpose of Winter Cruise is to showcase the various organizations on campus while having a lot of fun things to do!”

While enjoying Winter-Stellar’s “Star Wars” fiesta, ETSU students are encouraged to check out some of the on-campus organizations.

Booths for the many different clubs will be set up primarily in the Ballroom but also throughout the building.
