The men and women’s golf teams placed 16th and 10th respectively during competitions last weekend.

The men competed in the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Tournament Oct. 21-23, and the women competed in the Palmetto Intercollegiate Tournament October 23-25.

Day one for the men ended with the team placing 15th. Freshman Ben Reichert (East Amherst, N.Y.) did well, finishing 9th individually and shooting a score of 71.

On the same day freshman Mateusz Gradecki (Oborniki Slaskie, Poland) finished 43rd, sophomore Geuntae Kim (Daegu, South Korea) finished 63rd, and freshman Trevor Hulbert (Orlando, Fla.) finished 75th.

On day two for the Bucs, not much movement in the rankings as they remained tied for 15th. Reichert made an improvement, shooting a 74 which led him to tie at 17th place. After Reichert, Kim also shot a 74 placing him tied for 56th. Continuing the second day, Gradecki tied for 70th and Hulbert finished tied for 78th.

Gradecki shot 11-under, which was the third lowest total in tournament history. Kim finished tied for 24th and freshman Ben Reichert tied for 48th in day three. Junior Cayman Ratliff (Kingsport, Tenn.) and freshman Kevin Burns (Canton, Ga.) both finished tied for 69th. As for Hulbert, he finished 24th and Zack Ford (Cochranton, Pa.) finished tied 76th to end individual performances for the third day.

As for the team, they finished the final day in 16th place. The Bucs men did well competing against bigger D1 schools. Next, the men will return to action for the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational, which begins Sunday, Oct. 30.

The women’s team finished in 10th place in their first day of competition. Hee Ying Lo (Baru, Kulaijaya, Malaysia) finished tied for 19th. The rest of the Bucs finished above the top 60 places. Not much changed for the Bucs on the second day.

For the final day, the Bucs finished 10th overall. The biggest news was freshman Ankita Kedlaya (Bangalore, India) made a huge jump to finish tied with fellow teammate Lo.  

The women will return to action for the Kiawah Spring Invitational in February.
