Laser Tag

Buctainment will be hosting a laser tag event on Jan. 26 in the D.P. Culp University Center ballroom. From high noon to 4pm, people will be decked out in padded jackets and laser guns. Come by after lunch to join in a game of friendly competition for an exciting kickoff to the spring semester.

“Heroic Painting”

Artist Christian Rieben presented his paintings at the Tipton Gallery Jan. 11. Now Rieben plans to hold a discussion session on the journey he took in creating his works. Heroic Painting is a romantic reflection of himself and the connection between his imagination and mythology. The artist talk will be on Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. at the Tipton Gallery.

Fun Movie Friday: “Arrival”

“Arrival” comes to ETSU on Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. in the D.P. Culp University Center Cave. Starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker, the linguistics professor and her team has to figure out how to contact these extraterrestrials before the nations begin a global war. Though it may just seem like another alien movie, this film is popular among the ratings. IMDb’s 8.2/10 and Rotten Tomatoes’ 94 percent review has made this sci-fi/mystery twist a real hit.

LeStrange Concert

St. John’s Episcopal Church in Johnson City will be holding a concert on Jan. 29. This concert will be dedicated to classical LeStrange viols—upright, stringed instruments of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Six American viol players will be coming together to perform the traditional English style of music. The concert will begin at 6pm.

Winter Cruise

The annual Winter Cruise is back! On Feb. 1 in the D.P. Culp University Center ballroom, ETSU organizations will be showcasing themselves to the prospect students interested in participating in any extracurricular activities. Information booths will be set up in rows to inform any curious minds about what happens around ETSU. Wizards and Blizzards is the theme this semester, so be sure to dress out in any of your best cosplay clothes!
